Pupils at St Peter's CE Primary School are supporting homeless people in Harrogate through this year’s Harvest appeal.
The school is supporting welfare initiatives at St Peter’s Church in the town centre, including its six-day-a-week Breakfast Club and Thursday “mini supermarket”.
The services provide hot food, fresh provisions and everyday essentials to people in need on a no-questions-asked basis.
Led by the school’s pupil worship leaders, children have been discussing kindness, belonging and how small actions can help neighbours facing hardship.
The activities reflect the school’s “Love, Learn, Shine” vision, which encourages children to build positive relationships and recognise their role in supporting others.
Headteacher Paul Griffiths said:
“Harvest is a wonderful tradition, and we want our children to understand its real-world application right here in Harrogate.
"Through our close partnership with St Peter's Church, our children are learning that true community spirit means looking out for one another and supporting those who need a helping hand in our town.”
St Peter’s Church has long provided practical support for people in central Harrogate, offering hot breakfasts and emergency provisions.
The Revd Dr Alan Garrow, Vicar of St Peter’s Church, said:
“We are continually blown away by the compassion and generosity of the children and families at St Peter’s School.
"These contributions make a very real difference to our projects, helping us provide a lifeline and a warm welcome to those who need it most in our community.”
Meanwhile, families considering Reception places in 2027 are invited to find out more about the school through a personalised tour with Mr Griffiths.
The visits give parents an opportunity to explore the school, learn about its community-focused approach and ask questions about admissions.
