A piece of artwork from a pupil in the Harrogate district is now on display at a prestigious London gallery.
Artwork from Hampsthwaite CE Primary pupil Bonnie Radcliffe has been selected to be one of 510 to be displayed online and in the gallery at the Royal Academy.
Hampsthwaite encouraged pupils to enter The Royal Academy Summer Arts Competition with a collaborative piece of artwork done by the entire school.
Based on their School Values, the children were also encouraged to enter the competition individually - which some of them did.
And Bonnie’s work has been selected to be on display at the Royal Academy Young Artists Summer exhibition.
Hampsthwaite Primary School Headteacher Amy Ross said:
“Well done to all the children from Hampsthwaite Primary School who took part in the Royal Academy Young Artist competition.
“We are so proud of Bonnie for her fantastic achievement.
“To be part of the final exhibition from more than 20,000 entries nationally is remarkable and a real credit to her creativity and hard work.
“Thank you also to Claire Hutchinson, our Art Subject Leader, who enabled the children to take part in the competition as well as to the wider staff team who always go above and beyond to ensure that our curriculum provision and experiences for the children are of the highest quality.”
The school welcomed parents and the community to a special exhibition to celebrate the artwork.
They are hoping this will all contribute to achieving Gold in Artsmark an award accredited by Arts Council England.
