A Harrogate pupil studying A Level music at St. Aidan's CE High School is celebrating after winning the ORA Singers Young Composer competition.
Annabel Baxter, who is in year 12, won the final of the competition held at Worcester Cathedral.
She performed her piece ‘Spring’ after receiving 10 hours of composition mentoring from professional composer Toby Young.

Annabel was also given the opportunity to work with the ORA Singers during her composition process.
A spokesperson for St Aidan’s said:
“We are delighted to announce that Annabel very deservedly won the competition! This really is an outstanding accolade for one of our top students.
“The piece is inspired by birdsong and uses elements of aleatoric techniques (an advanced composition method).
"Congratulations Annabel!"
