Harrogate district village named among "poshest" in Britain A village in the Harrogate district is among the “poshest” in the UK, according to The Telegraph. The newspaper has published research gathered by Savills estate agents. And Kirkby Overblow, located between Harrogate and Wetherby, is one of 48 villages including on the list. The data reveals the most “desirable” villages, based on a number of factors including highest house prices, best lifestyle amenities, connectivity and aesthetic appeal. Kirkby Overblow has an average house price of £762,566. Frances McDonald, director of research at Savills, said:
“Our latest research indicates that proximity to a train station, place of work and family has become much more important for those searching for a new home – particularly as individuals are more likely to be commuting to the office multiple times a week. “While still important to some now, pandemic buyer wish lists favoured proximity to parks, shops, and local pubs and restaurants. “Exactly what village characteristics are classed as essential will vary from buyer to buyer, but we know that access to education, attractive surroundings and connectivity is a decent definition of a ‘have it all’ village.”Speaking about Kirkby Overblow, Ed Stoyle of Savills recommended the Shoulder of Mutton pub as a place to visit. He said:
“Kirkby Overblow has all the things that define a village, such as good pubs. It has a school and a quiet road that just leads to more villages.”See the full list of the UK’s “poshest” villages published by The Telegraph here. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
