Harrogate Cat Rescue seeks support for kittens with rare genetic condition

A Harrogate animal charity is appealing for donations to fund specialist treatment for two disabled kittens.

Noir and Neve have been cared for by Harrogate Cat Rescue since they were just five days old after being handed over to the charity.

Both kittens were born with feline radial hemimelia, a condition which means they are missing the radial bones in their front legs.

Noir, a black kitten, is affected in both front legs, while Neve, who is white, has the condition in one.

Despite their disabilities, the pair are said to be progressing well.

Lead volunteer Celia Dakin said:

“Despite this, they are thriving, playful, loving and developing just like other kittens, their determination is incredible to watch.”

To support their development and mobility, the kittens are now under the care of specialist vet Rhys Treharne at Swift Referrals.

However, the charity says the cost of treatment is significant, with the first consultation alone costing £450 and further appointments expected in the coming weeks.

Harrogate Cat Rescue is now asking for donations to help cover ongoing veterinary expenses.

Celia added:

“A donation no matter how small would mean the world to them and to us. We need your help to give them the life they deserve.”
