'Googly Eye Banksy' hits signs across Ripon
A number of signs across Ripon have been defaced with 'googly eyes' as part of an ongoing social media trend.
One resident has dubbed the trickster the googly eye 'Banksy' after signs featuring advertisements for tennis and padel were defaced with googly eyes. The photos have been posted to the 'Putting Googly Eyes on Things in Public' Facebook group, which now has more than 500 members. The group was first started in June 2021 and includes photos taken in York Train Station, Glasgow and Lakeside Services in recent weeks. One Ripon resident commented:"I drove past this today and chuckled. There’s one on my logo ont’ shop door. Boggles Eyed Banksy is a legend."Another added:
"Love it. I drove past this earlier and had a good laugh!"Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
