Briggate in Knaresborough will not close this week and the repairs to its collapsed wall will start at a later date.

Briggate closure cancelled and collapsed wall repairs postponed Briggate in Knaresborough will not close this week after the council revealed a sign had been put up in error. The sign told motorists that the section of Knaresborough Road would close to allow for repairs to a collapsed stone wall on the road. Works were said to be starting yesterday (Monday). However the council has now revealed the sign was put up by mistake and the wall repair is being carried out at a later date by a private contractor. A spokesperson for Knaresborough Chamber revealed:

"The resurfacing will take place once the wall is fixed and in better weather, which will possibly be next year now."
