The Aldborough and Boroughbridge Agricultural Show returns to Newby Hall near Ripon this weekend.
This year’s event, taking place on Sunday (27th July), features a mix of traditional rural activities and new attractions, including a ceramics and pottery exhibition.
Over 30 members of the Northern Potters Association will showcase and sell a variety of functional, decorative and sculptural ceramic works.
The show, a long-standing fixture in the Yorkshire summer calendar, will include livestock and equine competitions, vintage vehicle displays, and local produce and craft exhibits.
Gates open at 9:30am, with events such as cattle and sheep showing, horse and donkey classes, and heavy horse displays scheduled throughout the day.
Catherine Park Peyton, chair of the Aldborough and Boroughbridge Agricultural Show, said:
“We are very grateful to the local community for its ongoing support. We plan to build on the success of last year’s show with our new attractions, as well as a return of our most popular events.
“The success of television’s the Pottery Throwdown means that interest in pottery has grown and we hope the Northern Potter Association’s display will become an annual highlight of our show.
“This year, we have also reintroduced classes that many adults who attended shows as children will remember.
“As well as a full show programme for all interests, our ticket price includes entry to Newby Hall’s award-winning gardens and adventure playground – making it a fun and good value day out for all the family.

Family entertainment includes dog agility displays, terrier racing, children’s races, and fancy dress.
A farming demonstration will compare modern machinery with vintage equipment, alongside a broader display of agricultural vehicles from different eras.
Visitors can take part in baking, flower arranging, photography, horticulture, and craft competitions. Retro-style activities for adults include miniature gardens and fruit or vegetable animals, while children can create scarecrows, decorate wellies, and participate in baking and races.
The showground will also host trade stands, a craft tent, a beer tent, and refreshments including cream teas.
Entry includes access to Newby Hall’s award-winning gardens and adventure playground.

A free bus service will run between Boroughbridge and Newby Hall, stopping at Minskip, Aldborough, Kirby Hill, Langthorpe, and Skelton.

Advance tickets are available at www.newbyhall.com. Newby Hall season ticket holders receive a 50% discount on the day.
Tickets are charged at £12.50 for adults (£15 on the gate) and £5 for children (12-17 years). Children under 12 go free. A family ticket is £30 (online only).
Dogs are welcome on the show field but are not permitted in the gardens.
