The A59 at Kex Gill is set to reopen this week after nearly five months.
The road was closed on 2nd February due to a landslip, with North Yorkshire Council forced to carry out repairs worth a reported £2million.
The Council attributed the landslip to continued periods of wet weather.
The closure has negatively affected businesses on the 4km stretch of road between Blubberhouses and Moor Lane.
But the Council has said work is ahead of schedule and the road will reopen sooner than expected.
North Yorkshire Council’s assistant director of environment, Barrie Mason, spoke at a public meeting in Hampsthwaite last week.
He said:
"Our programme has been to reopen the road by the end of June and, at the moment, we are about a week ahead of schedule.
“We could reopen the road by the end of the week and we hope to publicise a more definite date shortly."
A drop-in session is taking place for people to find out about the current work and the ongoing realignment project.
This will be held at Bolton Abbey Village Hall on Wednesday 19th June between 6pm and 8pm.
