A popular Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant in Wetherby has been recognised at the annual English Curry Awards.
Bengal Lounge on High Street was named Local Restaurant of the Year title at the 14th awards in Birmingham last night (Monday).
Owner Bhoktiar Hussain said the win was a proud moment for the entire team.
He said:
“We are overjoyed that our Indian restaurant has won the honourable English Curry Awards 2025 Local Restaurant of the Year.
“Without the commitment, enthusiasm, and labour of our incredible team, from the kitchen to the front of house, this accomplishment would not have been possible.
“Our chef and business partner deserve special recognition for their skill and dedication in creating Bengal Lounge into what it is today.
“Above all, we sincerely thank our amazing customers, whose unwavering love, support, and commitment have been the key to our success.”
The awards ceremony took place at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham, bringing together chefs, restaurateurs and curry enthusiasts from across the country.
Organised by Oceanic Awards, the annual event celebrates excellence in the English curry industry.
Irfan Younis, spokesperson for the awards, said:
“It was another memorable event that honoured the dedication and hard work of the nominees and celebrated the rich tapestry of flavours that the curry industry brings to the English culinary landscape.”
It's been a successful year for the Bengal Lounge, who also received an award in February.
They were named 'Best of Yorkshire' at the Nation's Curry Awards 2025.
