Two men have been arrested after a double vehicle interception on the A1(M).
At 9.20pm last night (Wednesday), officers from North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group and Operational Support Unit were deployed to locate a suspected stolen Ford Transit van on the motorway.
It was soon spotted by officers travelling north between junctions 50 and 51, and tactics were used to quickly and safely bring to a halt.
Meanwhile, quick-thinking staff in the Force Control Room became aware of another suspicious Transit van nearby.
Suspecting that the two were linked, officers moved in to intercept the second vehicle.
Again, it was safely brought to a stop.
Two men, aged 43 and 44, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, and other motoring offences.
Arrangements are being made to return the vehicles to their rightful owners.
