The Liberal Democrats have regained control of the Harrogate and Knaresborough seat for the first time since 2010, with Conservative candidate and former MP Andrew Jones coming in second place.
Mr Jones has been the MP for the area for the past 14 years and at the last election had a majority of 9,675.
In Thursday's general election Tom Gordon for the Liberal Democrats won 23,976 votes, with Andrew Jones polling 15,738. That gives the Lib Dems a majority of 8,238.
John Swales was in third place for Reform UK with 5,679 - followed by Conrad Whitcroft for Labour on 4,153.
Posting on X after the victory, Harrogate and Knaresborough's new MP Tom Gordon said: "The first brick in the blue wall has come crashing down in Harrogate & Knaresborough tonight.
"A huge thank you to the entire team who have worked endlessly for this result.
"We are back in Harrogate & Knaresborough, back in Yorkshire, back in the North, and back across the country."
Turnout in the constituency was 66.95%.
