St. Aidan's CE High School has been selected to be a 'Lead Music School' for North Yorkshire (South).
It follows the government’s National Plan for Music in 2022, in which Music Hubs have been formed in every county of the UK.
These hubs are all designated ‘Lead schools’ to support other schools in their local area with their music provision and professional development for teaching staff.
And St. Aidan’s is celebrating the news that it has been chosen by local hub ‘Y Music’ as the Lead Music School for North Yorkshire (South).

The school has been chosen because it “exemplifies high quality music provision and teaching.”
The music department at St. Aidan’s offers significant timetable time given to music, extra-curricular opportunities, inclusive provision and teacher development.
Vicki Elliott, Director of Learning: Performing Arts said:
“It’s testament to the hard work of experienced colleagues who always go above and beyond to deliver exceptional music provision at St. Aidan’s.
“I am proud that the school and our excellent music provision has been recognised and am excited for the potential opportunities to collaborate with other schools.”

The role of a Lead Music School is to help curate, design and shape activities that will benefit fellow schools including supporting with instruments.
St. Aidan’s will work with and support local schools in the delivery of music education.
Headteacher Sian Dover said:
“Not only are our music results at GCSE and A Level amongst the highest in the country, but we also offer bespoke courses such as Performing Arts and Music Technology.
“We already work closely with schools within the Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust, but having the opportunity to share our expertise and develop our partnership work more widely is something we are all looking forward to.”
