The Shepherd's Dog pub on Otley Road in Harrogate has closed its doors.
Landlord Mike Schofield released a statement on the closure yesterday (Monday) blaming “rapid rising costs” that have made the business ‘unsustainable.’
He thanked employees past and present and patrons who helped make the pub a ‘community hub.’
Mike said:
“It is with sadness that I have had to take the disappointing decision to close The Shepherd’s Dog.
“Unfortunately due to rapid rising costs from many different areas, the pub in its current format cannot sustain itself.
“I would like to thank everyone, from all team members, past and present, to all patrons who made the pub the ‘community hub’ I always envisaged it should be.”
Mike is hopeful that the pub can reopen quickly under a new owner.
He added:
“I am arranging to have the keys handed back to the brewery in order that they may find an alternative operator as quickly as possible.
“Hopefully the pub will open again extremely quickly and the new operators can continue to build this great pub and fantastic community.”
