An endurance runner is set to pass through Harrogate at the end of a gruelling week-long challenge, as he completes seven ultramarathons in seven days.
Jack Percival is attempting to cover around 300 miles on foot, running from the Royal Automobile Club in Epsom to Harrogate, with the route taking him through large parts of southern and northern England.
The challenge combines long-distance running with fundraising for two charities: Percy’s Homeless Hub and the Greenkeepers Benevolent Fund.
And Jack is expected to arrive in Harrogate on Tuesday (20th January) at the end of his 7-day trek.
He said:
“January 2026 marks two years since I tried to take my own life. Two years since I reached a point where I couldn’t see a way forward.
“But I’m still here and I’m determined to turn that pain into something positive.”
The challenge coincides with the build-up to BTME, a major turf management exhibition traditionally held in the town, and reflects Jack’s background in the greenkeeping profession.

Jack’s challenge intends to raise awareness as well as funds, highlighting the importance of mental health support and community assistance.
He said:
“This run is about reminding people that no matter how dark things feel, there is always a way forward, and you are never truly alone.”
Both charities supported by the run work with people facing significant personal and financial difficulties, including homelessness and hardship within the greenkeeping sector.
This is not Jack's first long-distance fundraising effort.
He has previously completed a multi-hundred-mile walk across the UK, an experience he has credited with motivating him to continue using endurance challenges as a platform for charitable causes.
