A list has been compiled of the prettiest and ugliest towns in the UK - and Ripon has been included.
The Telegraph has ranked the fourteen prettiest towns across the country, with Ripon ranked at number 10 - despite being a city.
It’s the only location in North Yorkshire to be included, whilst Ilkley in West Yorkshire came in at number five.
Ripon is Britain’s third smallest city and the smallest in Yorkshire, with a population of around 16,000.
The Telegraph points to its medieval cathedral - which dates back to the 7th century - as well as its “rich cultural heritage”, “bustling market square” and award-winning museums.
It also highlighted Ripon’s small streets and snickets that house boutique shops and cafes, and called the city “idyllic and quaint”.
