Some train journeys between Harrogate, Leeds and York have already been cancelled today (Wednesday) due to ASLEF strikes.
Rail passengers told to expect "short notice cancellations" due to strikes
Rail passengers have been told to expect short notice cancellations amid ASLEF action short of strike this week.
The ASLEF union, the representative of train drivers, is taking action short of strike from Monday 7th until Saturday 12th August. They believe their members have not had a pay rise in four years and want a rise that takes inflation into account. This will lead to cancellations and alterations to journeys, according to various train operators. Services between Harrogate, York and Leeds have already been affected this morning (Wednesday). A spokesperson for train operator Transpennine Express said:"We expect services to be subject to short notice cancellation or amendment. The alterations may be on the day of travel or late the night before."Travelling from Harrogate today? Check if your train is running as scheduled here.
