Weekend DalesBus services into the Yorkshire Dales will continue a full summer timetable until 19th October, with the not-for-profit company searching for more volunteers.
This includes:
- 825 to Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey, Masham, Middleham, Leyburn and Richmond, running from Knaresborough Bus Station at 09:50 and Harrogate Bus Station at 10:15 every Sunday.
- Hourly bus service between Skipton, Gargrave and Malham on Sundays, with the first journey leaving Skipton Bus Station at 09:50.
- 875 and 876 to Grassington, Wharfedale, Kidstones Pass, Aysgarth and Hawes in Wensleydale, running from Ilkley Bus Station at 10:20 and 11:15 every Sunday.
The social enterprise which manages these services is also seeking additional volunteers to help continue and develop the DalesBus network.
Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company is a not-for-profit company owned by charity Friends of the Dales.
Deputy Chair of the company, Kevin Armstrong, said
“The public are showing that they need our services more than ever and we urgently need more help to rise to the challenge of maintaining and developing our services.
“If we can help ensure that more bus services into and around the Dales are well run and marketed, we can connect more people to communities and the countryside without the use of a car.
“By doing this, we can do more to reduce social isolation, encourage healthy exercise, relieve congestion, reduce pollution and support the local economy, expanding markets for local businesses.”
“Over 56,000 journeys were made on our DalesBus services last year, an increase of five percent, and we urgently need more help to continue to grow this number in future years.”
The company is particularly keen to find people at all levels with interest in marketing including tasks such as designing online and printed materials and managing social media; and in recruiting, managing and supporting volunteers.
