A new Community Hub based at Grove Park Court is now open and providing Podiatry, and Speech and Language community clinics to Harrogate residents.
Harrogate and District NHS Foundations Trust’s (HDFT) Community Hub now sees over 60 patients a day for Podiatry Services.
These include minor nail surgery, wound care and musculo-skeletal assessments, as well as speech and language services such as vocal assessment and management of communication or swallowing disorders.
Both Podiatry and Speech and Language Therapy departments were required to move in response to the discovery of RAAC concrete in the Therapy Service block of Harrogate District Hospital, which is currently being demolished and replaced with a new Day Case Surgery and Imaging department.
Emma Noe, Head of HDFT Podiatry Services said:
"Our new Harrogate base is a purpose built, modern clinic space.
“Our team of podiatrists are proud to be able to continue to provide a high level of care from a comfortable, welcoming environment.
“We are receiving really positive feedback from patients that have attended for appointments since the move.”

HDFT’s Planning team worked hard alongside clinical colleagues to identify a new permanent base for both teams that would support them in continuing to deliver high quality services in a safe, accessible environment.
The building was then renovated to accommodate over 70 clinical staff with a dedicated admin base for the Trust’s District Nursing teams, six outpatient clinic rooms and an Orthotics Laboratory.
The Community Hub also has dedicated patient parking available outside the building’s front entrance for ease of access.

Karen Woodford, Adult SLT Manager and Professional Lead said:
“The SLT team have embraced the change, and are really pleased with the new space.
“There has been lots of positive feedback from them and also the patients, especially regarding accessibility and parking.
“We are excited to continue to provide a quality service in a quality place.”
There will be no change to the Podiatry and Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) services provided at Harrogate District Hospital, such as joint consultant clinics and inpatient work, which will continue as usual.
