A York-based wellness company has expanded into Harrogate with the opening of its third UK retail store.
HempWell, which produces seed-to-shelf CBD products from its laboratories at York Science Park, officially opened its new shop on Oxford Street last week.
The store sits next to Harrogate Theatre in the town centre and welcomed visitors with a talk on the benefits of CBD from the company’s scientific adviser, Professor Mike Barnes.
The family-owned business already operates stores in York and Brighton and says Harrogate was a logical next step.
Co-owner Phillip James said:
“It was a natural progression for us.
“We already have many customers who come from Harrogate and visit the York store, so it made perfect sense for us to open there and customers really do appreciate coming into a real store and getting accurate information from our brilliant consultancy team.”
Alongside its CBD oils, creams and other products, the Harrogate store will also stock vitamins, minerals and herbal supplements.
A treatment area is due to open soon, offering reflexology sessions using items such as HempWell’s massage oils and muscle balms.

CBD – or Cannabidiol – is a legal extract from the hemp plant used by some people for issues including joint and muscle pain, anxiety and sleep.
HempWell grows its hemp crops in Sicily and Bulgaria before processing and producing its products in York.
HempWell says its fully controlled production chain allows for greater transparency, something it considers central to its approach.
The business also works with Professor Barnes, who is regarded as a leading UK expert on CBD.
More information about HempWell’s products is available at www.hempwell.co.uk or by visiting the new Harrogate store.
