Harrogate Town warn fans against abusive language and anti-social behaviour

Harrogate Town has released a statement about the conduct of a small minority of away fans.

Harrogate Town has issued a statement following the 'unacceptable' behaviour of some supporters at away games.

The club said it has received reports that a “small minority” of away fans are displaying anti-social behaviour with opposing club supporters, near to and inside the football stadiums.

In the statement, the club said it is “family orientated” and that such behaviour will not be tolerated.

A club spokesperson said:

“There have been reports of abusive and offensive language repeatedly aimed at opposition club personnel and other supporters and staff/players.

“This is not acceptable and will not be tolerated by Harrogate Town AFC.

“We are currently working with North Yorkshire Police and fellow clubs to investigate these reported incidents.”

The statement added:

“Though we appreciate this is a small minority of people and that “this happens at every football club”, we will not accept this at our Club, just because it's football.

“Harrogate Town AFC has a zero tolerance approach for which we won’t make any apology and in the best interest of our brilliant supporters, anyone found in breach of our code of conduct may be banned from the stadium and potentially liable for criminal investigation.”
