A para powerlifter from Harrogate has broken the British record (twice!) following a stunning performance at the Irish Invitational Para Powerlifting Competition.
Charlotte McGuinness represented Team England at the competition held on 5th July in Dublin.
Competing in the 61kg category, 23-year-old ‘Lottie’ successfully lifted 102kg, 107kg, and 110kg.
These lifts not only placed her within the qualification rankings, but also saw her break the British record twice—surpassing the previous mark of 104kg.

Her performance has confirmed her qualification spot for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next year.
Lottie told Your Harrogate:
“This achievement means so much to me.
“It’s a reflection of the countless hours of hard work I’ve put into training, and it gives me real hope that those efforts could lead me to the podium in Glasgow next year.”
Lottie represented Team GB at the Paralympic Games in Paris last year, in which she narrowly missed out on a medal in the Women’s Para Powerlifting event.
