A Harrogate mum's new business venture is launching at Newby Hall's Tractor Fest this June.
Lucy Smith, a TV producer, entrepreneur and mum from Harrogate, has recently embarked on a new business venture.
Her Tractor Pirates brand encourages children to connect with the countryside and the origin of their food through play.
It will launch as a play-inspiration brand for parents of tractor obsessed kids on Instagram and TikTok @tractorpirates, before dropping as an animated YouTube series later this year.
The Tractor Pirates launch invites younger visitors to Tractor Fest to enjoy an interactive tractor-themed play area complete with a selection of sensory farmyard tuff trays, tractor-inspired craft activities and tractor track painting.
There will also be a range of toy tractors and Tractor Pirates t-shirts available to buy.
Her inspiration for the brand came from her own children, Albie with his love of tractors and her daughter Jessie who loves pirates.
She said:
"Tractor Pirates is the theme for all our playtime.
“It’s so important that children understand where their food and drink comes from beyond a supermarket packet.
"This education encourages kids to eat healthier ingredients, value natural resources and understand the vital and dedicated work of our farmers.
"Being out in nature is also so good for our health and mental wellbeing - another benefit of joining the Tractor Pirates community!”.
Lucy’s family owned the Stephen H. Smith Garden Centre chain (now Otley Garden Centre) for many years.
Tractor Fest
Taking place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June, Tractor Fest will showcase more than 1,000 vintage and modern tractors, 600 stationary engines, commercial vehicles, cars, trucks and motorcycles.
Tractor Fest is sponsored by Europe’s leading agricultural and machinery auctioneer Cheffins and road vehicle maintenance manufacturer Econ Engineering.
The show is also supported by Ripon Farm Services.
