Harrogate Cat Rescue is "desperate" for families to adopt the large number of cats and kittens in its care.
The charity is overwhelmed with cats looking for new homes and are unable to take in new cats due to the slow rate of adoptions.
In response, the rescue centre has called on local families to consider a new furry addition to their households.
Volunteer Lisa Francis told Your Harrogate:
“Until we can find new homes for the many in our care ready to be adopted, we cannot take in any more cats and kittens in desperate need.
“Please bear us in mind if you are looking to adopt a cat or kitten and talk to us about options.
“Quite often what people think will be right for them isn’t, and we can help you find the right new addition to your family.”
Lisa said there is an “unprecedented” number amount of cats needing new homes.
They range from 6-months to 1-year-old, with some older cats too.
Lisa added:
“We know that times are tough, and this is very noticeably reflected in the rate of adoptions.
“Normally, there is a reasonably steady flow of enquiries and subsequent adoptions, which in turn adds to our resources and frees up foster space to allow us to take in other cats and kittens in desperate need.”
Anyone looking to enquire about adopting a cat should visit the Harrogate Pet Rescue social media channels or call 07749 461042.
