Fundraiser for Pateley hit-and-run victim approaches £20,000

A fundraising campaign is underway following the death of Bailey Chadwick (centre).

A fundraising campaign for Bailey Chadwick, the 19-year-old tragically killed in a suspected hit-and-run near Pateley Bridge, has surged to more than £17,500.

It's now drawing closer to a £20,000 milestone as donations continue to pour in from across the community.

Bailey was struck by a vehicle in the early hours of Sunday 20th July, while walking home along the road between Pateley Bridge and Glasshouses.

A full investigation is underway and two arrests have been made.

The fundraiser was launched by Bailey’s sister Daniella to help cover funeral costs and has seen a wave of support, with over a thousand donations and messages of condolence.

In an emotional message to supporters, Daniella said:

“I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their donations. Thank you for taking the pressure off family at this time.

"Bailey would be so proud of his friends and family coming together at a time like this. He loved you all and so do we.

"Thank you for your kindness, thank you for your words and stories, and thank you for helping.”

Tributes continue to pour in for Bailey.

He has been described as a "kind and vibrant young man" with a love of music, travel, horse racing and football.

He was a devoted Sheffield Wednesday supporter and was due to travel to Thailand the week of his death.
