Fire crews were called to two field fires near Ripon yesterday (Monday).
Four fire engines responded to reports of a stubble field well alight at around 3pm.
The fire required crews from Ripon, Thirsk, Northallerton and Richmond and a water bowser from Tadcaster.
On arrival, firefighters noted that the fire measured around 200 x 100 metres in size.
The fire then jumped a road and ignited a second field.
Crews used four hose reel jets and were assisted by farmers creating fire breaks to extinguish and dampen the fire.
