York's popular Bavarian-themed celebration, Yorktoberfest, has returned to York Racecourse.
The event, which began last weekend, drew large crowds to the Clocktower Enclosure, where festival-goers donned traditional dirndls, lederhosen and other creative outfits to enjoy the festivities.
Following sold-out sessions last weekend, organisers say this Friday and Saturday will be the final opportunities for visitors to attend this year’s event. Now in its fifth year, Yorktoberfest has become a well-established fixture in the city’s entertainment calendar.
The festival features live performances from The Bavarian Strollers, an internationally recognised seven-piece band known for their mix of traditional oompah music and popular party anthems.
Also headlining is York-based drag artist and host Velma Celli, who has earned praise from attendees for her performances, audience interactions and competitions during the show.
Event organiser James Cundall, CEO of Jamboree Entertainment said:
“Yorktoberfest is the perfect excuse to immerse yourself in all the fun of a Bavarian festival and forget the world outside.
"We still have some individual tickets and tables of six left for this Friday in both standard and VIP, and on Saturday afternoon and evening sessions we have VIP individual tickets and tables of six available, but are already sold out in standard, so now is the time to get your friends or work-mates together and party!”
He added:
“Our VIP tables are situated between the two stages so you are close to the entertainment plus they have waitress service, which means our fabulous staff will bring all the drinks and food to you, so you can maximise your time having fun rather than toing and froing to the bar.
"It makes an ideal option for office parties, groups or that special occasion,” adds Mr Cundall.
The festival’s VIP area is located between two stages and includes table service for food and drinks. Organisers say this option is popular for group bookings and special occasions.
Refreshments are provided by local brewery Brew York, with additional drinks including wine, prosecco, spirits, alcohol-free options and soft drinks.
German-inspired dishes such as sausages, schnitzels and pretzels are served by The Dog Haus, with vegan and vegetarian options available.
Yorktoberfest takes place at York Racecourse’s Clocktower Enclosure on Friday 24th October from 7pm to 11pm, and on Saturday 25th October with afternoon and evening sessions.
