North Yorkshire Police have released footage of a high-speed pursuit through Harrogate as officers attempted to recover a stolen vehicle.
Just after 9.15pm on Tuesday (28th April), police received information that a suspected stolen vehicle from Harrogate had been spotted in the area, and officers were quickly deployed.
The car was swiftly sighted by a Roads Policing Unit, but failed to stop, leading to a pursuit.
A police spokesperson said:
“With support from our “eyes in the sky” at the National Police Air Service (NPAS), officers maintained the pursuit despite the driver’s attempts to get away.
“It continued into Ripon, where a stinger was successfully deployed, bringing the vehicle to a stop.”
The driver made off on foot, but a 37-year-old man was detained a short time later.
He was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle; failing to stop; driving whilst disqualified; dangerous driving; theft; driving without insurance; and driving under the influence of drugs.
He remains in custody for questioning.
