A Harrogate runner is celebrating an impressive third-place finish in her age category at the world-famous New York Marathon.
Killinghall mum Davina Ellis, 45, completed the gruelling 26.2-mile course in an amazing time of two hours and 52 minutes.
Her effort on Sunday 2nd November set a new personal best and won her the bronze medal in the 45-49 age group.
Remarkably, Davina only began running three years ago and joined Harrogate Harriers in 2022.
Before taking up long-distance running, her only race experience came from school cross-country events, although she spent many years playing netball and running a few miles a week to keep fit.

After debuting at the 2023 London Marathon with a time of 3:15, she has gone from strength to strength, completing four marathons in total.
Davina said:
“I’m overjoyed to come home with a Bronze Medal after finishing third in the World Age Group Championships in a time of 2:52:22.
“Thank you New York. You didn’t disappoint and you certainly delivered.
“Congratulations to everyone who took part making it the World’s largest Marathon to date!”
Davina now has her sights set on further challenges, with plans to take on the Cape Town and Berlin marathons next year.
