Harrogate boxing club launches mental health workshop for young fighters

H Hour Boxing Club is teaming up with Duncan McCarthy Academy.

A Harrogate boxing club is teaming up with a leading mental performance coach to help young athletes develop the mental skills needed to succeed both inside and outside the ring.

H Hour Boxing Club and Duncan McCarthy Academy will host a free mental health and wellbeing workshop for around 25 young fighters aged between 13 and 18 on Wednesday 2nd July.

The event, which will take place at AIM Martial Arts Academy's Manhattan Club, aims to give young athletes practical tools to manage pressure, build confidence and strengthen their mental resilience.

The workshop brings together two respected organisations with strong roots in the local community.

Duncan McCarthy, founder of Duncan McCarthy Academy, has worked with elite athletes around the world and has supported players at Harrogate Town AFC.

Through his academy, he is now focused on helping the next generation develop the mindset and habits needed to thrive in sport and life.

Joining him is H Hour Boxing Club, a Harrogate-based amateur boxing club and registered charity that has helped produce fighters who have gone on to win national and international honours.

During the session, young fighters will hear practical advice on topics including performance under pressure, self-belief, resilience and mental wellbeing.

Participants will also have the opportunity to share their own experiences of balancing the demands of sport, education and everyday life.

The session takes place on Wednesday, July 2nd at 7pm at the Manhattan Club, AIM Martial Arts Academy.
