A field of 85 cyclists, including adults and juniors, were in Ripon on Sunday (1st March) to take part in Yorkshire's eighth Reliability Ride of 2026.
The early‑season event, organised by the city’s Moonglu Cycling Club, was completed without incident.
Club member and publicity officer Pete Lancaster told Tim Flanagan of the Rejoicing in Ripon blog:
“All went well, we had 85 riders set off and 85 return.”
The circular ride around a 54‑mile course taking in Bedale, Catterick, Leyburn, Middleham and Masham, and a circuit of approximately 33 miles for junior and less experienced cyclists, started and finished outside The Storehouse Bar and Eatery on Blossomgate.

The club, established by Neil Dunkley and David Fell, has just celebrated its tenth birthday and there was a poignancy to Sunday’s event, as competitors raised money for the suicide prevention charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) in memory of a club member who sadly took their own life a few years ago.
Neil, owner of Ripon BID member Moonglu, said:
“We have raised several hundred pounds and hope that it will help the charity, while increasing awareness of its vital work.”
An affiliated member of British Cycling, Moonglu has more than 200 members and caters for people of all ages, from newcomers to the sport to competitive riders. Its facilities include a covered road, off‑road options (gravel, cyclo‑cross racing and mountain bike) as well as an indoor racing league on static bikes.
